These are my favorite sunglasses when I read out in the yard. I'm one of those funny people that has a different pair of sunglasses for every activity.

Drawings are a great way to capture cherished memories.
Isabelle wanted the Poopin' Pup more with each day that passed getting closer to her birthday. Someday when the toys are gone we'll have this drawing to remember.

Draw Your Socks
I tackle my Every Day in May list by not reading the prompts ahead of time. I go to the cottage each afternoon during the girls outdoor play time open the sheet and read it. Today it told me to prop my feet up and relax, sort of. I also couldn't resist snapping a picture of the lush green trees blocking out the otherwise enormous blue sky. I'm was so thankful for that moment of bird song, soft breeze and children's laughter.

Draw Something That Represents Joy
05-03-2013 It's still mostly a patch of soil but there are some signs of the life beneath starting to show. This of course brings us great joy. Now day three of Every Day in May it's nice to have the chance to find something daily that is unique from the list to appreciate. It felt good sitting on the tiny front deck, the cottage blocked most of the chilly breeze and the sun added the right amount of warm welcome that made me want to linger there longer.

05-02-2013 For school today we were learning the letter Z. What better way to appreciate that letter than to go to the zoo? It was a perfect 70 degree, clear blue sky, light breeze and wonderful day. Draw Something Bubbly
05-01-2013 Every Day in May has kicked off; I'm using the 31 prompts as an opportunity to play with quick sketching as a loose capture of the moment, the wonkier the better! Here is my can of something bubbly. Beautiful weather in the upper 60's with a light breeze caressing my neck, "It's 5 o'clock Somewhere" playing on the radio not a big country music fan but if it were happy hour this would be my drink of choice.

Draw Something Representing Your Favorite Sport
05-30-2012 It took a slow hand to replicate the circular reel at this angle. I like the way the different textures look after I added the marker colors to the Moleskine paper. Really enjoyed doing this piece.

Draw a Mailbox
05-28-2012 This is the view of our mailbox from the front door. The line on the right is a stop sign which you can see here also from the front door angle. The mailbox is an ugly black thing on a big metal chain. When we bought the house there were also tall chains like these flanking each side of the driveway. Thankfully my husband took them down. I drew this mailbox one other time using a different angle and more whimsical colors.

05-24-2012 Post 500! I knew when I started the posts for Every Day in May that I would be reaching 500 soon. It's a pleasure to accomplish such a lofty feat. Thanks to all the super sweet followers for all your great comments and support. Some days just knowing that you're there watching is exactly what it takes to keep me drawing. Maybe we should celebrate with some of this...

Draw an Ear
05-22-2012 Anyone with teenagers knows that sometimes they skip use of their disambiguation. Yup, that's a fancy name for ear. I considered drawing the dogs or the younger girls ears none of which stand still long enough. A fowl for listening she is forever a good subject for sitting still, thanks Lex.
