Sunglasses Pen Drawing

These are my favorite sunglasses when I read out in the yard.  I'm one of those funny people that has a different pair of sunglasses for every activity.

Pen Drawing Vintage Sears Kitchen Sugar Canister Art

I hunted high and low for canisters that weren't just the standard plain styles of the box stores.  These were fun and different and I've drawn the art on them a few times.

Loose Sketch of the Kitchen

While I'm waiting for the fried chicken and french fries to finish in the oven a loose sketch from the kitchen.

Any time is a good time to capture the feeling.

Drawings are a great way to capture cherished memories.

Isabelle wanted the Poopin' Pup more with each day that passed getting closer to her birthday.  Someday when the toys are gone we'll have this drawing to remember.

Drawing Ball Point Pen Snow What Fun Snowman and Snow Puppy

Ball point pen drawing with a Hallmark stuffed figurine of a snowman and snow puppy.

Drawing Happy Holidays Snowman Penguin and Puppy on a Sled

Ball point pen play! Just some quick lines to remind myself that I still know how to draw. This is one of the Hallmark snowmen my parents gave me for Christmas drawn in Strathmore sketchbook with blue ball point pen. I would love to draw all of them.

Draw Something Blue

EDM 325
My favorite watercolor paintbrush. I keep it on a clothespin to dry tucked under my colorful kitties butt for safe keeping.

Draw Something That Has Buttons

I haven't drawn an item from the EDM Challenge list in a while.  This shirt has buttons on the back and after drawing it I realized that the most important part (the buttons) aren't showing.  It's a good memory trigger of the only T shirt anyone in our family has with a button up back.

I also included pictures of the cottage with the windows added.  I learned on a windy day with my papers blowing around that windows are very important if I closed the doors to block the wind I could no longer see the girls.

Draw a Teacup

Calling for massive snow in most everywhere in the Northeast as Nemo barrels through the area.  Being on the far south of this could be good or bad as a lot of wind usually bites along the edges of these kinds of storms.  I can't complain seeing as the most recent information is tagging 30 inches at the farthest northern parts of this beast.  Oh yeah this is an art blog...I drew this tea cup.  Wow seems little and insignificant now doesn't it?  Actually it perches high atop the shelf in our living room in one of the proudest locations.

Draw Something That Represents a Hobby You Love

The first week of homeschooling went well I was torn between giving her as much as she craved and taking it easy on her.  She is no doubt a give me more kind of kid I just want to make sure to pace it in a way that she retains the knowledge.  With all the school planning this week there hasn't been much time for "me" projects.  I'm hoping as the scheduling becomes more habit it will return.  I did get this one every day object drawn as I sat down at my desk moping that I hadn't drawn in a while I picked up a pen and just did it.  Life is funny like that, action gets more completed than thought alone ever will.

Draw Something Soft

This has got to be one of the softest stuffed animals the girls own.  This particular one is a mouse that Aurora adores.  She snags up this little guy and her puppy dog every morning when she gets up hunting for her morning milk.  Even though fairly new it's already starting to show the wear of childhood affection.

Draw a Part of a Bicycle

This bike was a gift from my family for Christmas no they're not hinting for me to excercise more it was my idea.  It's cute and all grown up.  I used to love riding BMX bikes and it was hard to let go of that style.  At least the rims are red.  I asked my husband to choose the part of the bike to draw and of course he picked the hardest part.  I refused to let it get me down.  When my inner critic lifted her big head and started mumbling her opinions I latched the door and shut her out.  My only challenge was commiting to solid lines otherwise for a ten minute sketch it's pretty good.

Draw Something That Represents a New Year's Goal

You really can't go to any art blog this week without seeing some sort of resolution or goal for the new year.  I had none and felt a little guilty so I pulled this one out of my hat; I will be more spontaneous.  Tonight I grabbed my pen, colored pencils and sketchbook, sat on the counter and just drew what I saw.  No preparation or beforehand thought.  This is the drawn product of that spontaneity.  I love sitting on the counter, it's my favorite place to sit in the house (oh yeah I'm a rebel) and the view is actually pretty interesting.

Draw Out in Public

I went to the local air field looking for an interesting drawing subject.  It would have been great to draw one of the Chinook helicopters but I got nervous since they are military vehicles.  So I settled on this little puddle jumper with its interesting angles and colors.  I was still acutely aware that the owner might show up and yell at me for drawing his plane.  Is that a feeling that ever goes away?

*I just deleted 3 awesome comments when I tried to click Publish I was totally bummed.  I'm still getting familiar with the touch screen computer.  If you don't see your comment published that is why. Thanks for your comments and I will try extra hard not to let that happen again!

Got Coffee?

"I couldn't sleep I just drank black coffee and paced."  I read this in a book today and I began to wonder how often has this been done?  A person tortured by their own actions.  Unaware of what's being done.  Set down the coffee let the caffeine wear off and get rest silly.  Me I'm good I had my morning cup from this maker that I was inspired to draw while making chili in the kitchen cooking.  Long meals always calls for some drawing time.  If the canisters on the right look familiar it's because I drew them as a main subject before.

Draw Your Toothbrush

I had an urge to draw while my girls were coloring in the living room.  I chose my toothbrush as the subject.  Just when I was about to pick it up and bring it out sure to stir a million prying questions I realized that the best place to view it from was in its rightful place in the toothbrush holder.  Which meant sitting on the toilet in the peaceful quiet hiding out in the bathroom and drawing.  The cup gives it a great colorful backdrop.

Draw Some Keys

12-16-2012  Caught like a deer in headlights while picking up my sketchbook, keys positioned and ready, my littlest walked up behind me.  I thought I had a minute to draw but then with her on stand by meant I had even less than that.  Once the urge to draw is there I've got to get it done.  Even if it means working quickly.

Robin with a White Mask

12-09-2012 I was a little bummed because I couldn't get my camera to see the bird the way my eyes could and then I remembered that I can draw what I see.  I've never seen a robin like this before.  Maybe it's a different type passing through or an older one.  It didn't stay with the other robins it preferred to be with the mourning doves.  If he is an older bird maybe hanging out with the plump doves made him safer since predators would want the bigger specimen instead.

Draw Something Architectural

11-23-2012 I think my bird feeder counts as something architectural.  Don't you?  I was paging through my EDM list and became curious.  Of the 328 items how many had I drawn?  The answer?  One hundred and twenty six.
