Bearded Collie as Thor

This is a drawing requested by John of his dog a bearded collie named Jack as Thor the Norse mythology hammer wielding god.  He looks like a serious dog which could easily take on this ever important Viking role!  Made with alcohol markers for the metal and stone areas, colored pencil for the dog himself and wooden hammer then finished with India ink.  Check out other fun pet inspired art I've created from photographs.

Cat Three Letter Word

Last week I put a request out to a handful of club members for pictures of their pets for an art project.  These three cards form a triptych of the word cat created from photographs of Kathryn's cats Meg, Tazzy and Stella.

Teacup Mastiff

Have you ever wondered if a large dog like a Mastiff has ever envied a tiny dog like a Teacup Yorkie?  This is my humorous take on that with Robin's Granddog Odie the English Mastiff riding on a carnival teacup ride. View all the whimsical pet art from photos that I have drawn here.

Remembered

This is Robin's cat Bubba Gump whom she loved dearly.  In her words he was her baby.  I chose to do his card in a very respectful whimsical Renaissance style.

A Day at the Fair

Get out of the snow and into the fair grounds with Carol's Halflinger horses Arco and Cheyenne.  I enjoyed making this card as the weather has been miserable here and it was nice to fantasize about the sounds, smells and environment of the fair.

Share Some Sugar

This is a fun drawing of Robin's fleabitten gray horse Mr Bo Jangles.  When you look at these illustrations I hope that you are able to see the story that plays out in my mind.  I really enjoy making these type of cards.  Every animal is so unique and special in its own right.
