Anyone who has kept up with my blog knows from this post that I love fishing. This was inspired from my days of fishing. My friend Bob hooked a big striped bass and as it tore up the coast he leaped and ducked under other fishermen as he reeled it in. Knocking things down along the way. Anything to get that fish on the beach! In response to some comments the background is ripped paper reattached to a sheet of mixed media paper with white gesso it gives me a nice sturdy canvas to start with. Then I used watercolor paint, acrylic paint, oil pastels and pens.

Love the look you've created here- very vibrant but it has an aged/vintage feel to it! Did you use pan pastels? Such great color techniques!
Love the texture & colours! We always kiss any fish we catch & throw back in the river LOL, could be because they have all been to tiny for dinner ;)

I went back to see what else you had done besides this marvelous fisherman (I fly fish with my dh). I love the one about the cookies with your two younger girls. I love your bright colors. Sometimes your backgrounds look like they are painted on tyvek paper.

i always think of fishing as an excuse to spend a peaceful day on the beach or on a boat-- i forget that it can get pretty exciting at times, too! it looks like bob is having a grand ol' time!

The fisherman's stance is classic. Was the gesso white or clear? I always have trouble with covering up too much of the layer underneath.
