Keep The Hand Moving

11-18-2012  Yesterday I played with acrylic paint in spray bottles my right hemisphere activity was completely gone.  Today I sat down and drew with no direction.  Right brain doesn't want to come?  FINE!  The hand is leaving without you.  I've been distracted by my oldest daughter turning eighteen soon and how my role in her life is about to change.  I believe that is what largely influenced what I created tonight.  At least I'm creating.  Done and done.  Does anyone else hum music when they are in the art zone?  I do, often.  Sometimes it's commercials or show tunes, how embarrassing right?   My song tonight was, "teach your children well..."

This is so sweet! I actually listen to music while painting but I only sing along when nobody is around to hear me. :)))

A lovely drawing Mary! very sweet.
As for humming, I always have a song in my head and am humming and singing all day long, so for me art has little to do with it, haha.

This is adorable. and I have music on when painting. it keeps the left side of the brain occupied so it doesn't tell me how I cant do something when creating in the right brain mode. :) I took the course..Drawing on the Right side of the brain years ago and its really helped. so don't feel embarrassed.

I think its adorable. I don't hum or sing while painting, but to engage my right brain, I will listen to audiobooks, podcasts or have a tv series on in the back ground, other wise my right brain is a PITA and meddles with the painting!

Your painting is so touching. My oldest daughter is graduating from college this year, and I am having a lot of emotions about that. Seems like just yesterday .... I love listening to music when I work. It gets me right into the creative mood!

It is so hard to let them go, even for a year or two, then they come back realizing what has always been there for them.

Beautiful work, I hum when my art is going well and I noticed it stops when things go wrong!

It is so important to teach our children well. I love to watch my son with his children! It's fun to watch the lessons being taught again - maybe not the same words but definitely the same lessons.

Your painting is wonderful.

This is adorable and touching! Love the patterned background and the colors, too!
I often listen music while drawing, I may hum sometimes, or even sing aloud if there is nobody else around... :)

What an amazing picture you painted. It's almost like you dreamed it. I hadn't thought about painting my dreams. No, I do not sing or hum, I love complete silence. Blessings, Janet PPF

This is so sweet! Love the irregular black outlines. I usually sing along (quite loudly)with music, except when I'm painting. Then I just listen and paint ... Didn't even realize that until you asked ... ;-)

Yes Teaching children well is important because they reflect you and your values...I love listening to some cool and calm instrumental music while creating my art :) Love your work here!
