Lover Boy's Roadside Stand

Have you ever been driving down the road and an idea for something to create popped into your head?  That's how this boy came about.  I saw a roadside stand and imagined a gangly boy trying to sell his affection from it.

I used paper piecing with gesso for my canvas, black pen, watercolor paint, water soluble crayons, stamps, india ink and gel pens.  I believe keeping the color pallet strict made the overall look must stronger then if I had just slapped in a bunch of expected colors.  Did I mention that I just love this background?

He is wonderful! Isn't it fabulous when that happens! I have had to pull over more than once when driving to get an idea started before it leaves my mind!

This is so cute, and it conjures up a whole story. Now, are you considering doing a painting of the girl who took him up on his offer?
