Painting Art Mixed Media "Coming, Colors In Her Hair"

After shooting the Inspiration Video this week I became enamored to finish the swinging girl.  We had two big trees in our backyard when I was growing up I always loved swinging from one of them while facing the south sun.  I swung so much that I wore the rope and fell on my bottom hopefully this grown woman won't have that problem.  Can you figure out what song inspired her title, 'Coming, Colors in Her Hair'? it was the song running through my head as I created her.  She's made with multiple ripped pattern papers on a mixed media paper base, gesso to blend the multiple patterns into one uniform background then drawn and colored with watercolor paints, colored pencil, gel pen and finished with India ink.

  15. Oh, this brings back memories. When I was a little girl we had a huge cherry tree in the backyard with a swing on it. I spent many a happy hour underneath that tree! This is a very sweet piece.

  16. She's lovely, Mary. There was nothing better than a swing that was hanging from a tree when I was a kid. My favorite was the one out at the cottage that swung out over the water - once you got out over the water you could let go and jump in!

Thanks so much for joining in this week.
